Evergood Associates are currently supporting our client based in Berkshire in recruiting for an experienced and Qualified Social Worker, to act as a Service Manager based within their Quality Assurance Service. 

The successful candidate will be expected to develop the opportunity for a People Directorate joint quality assurance and performance unit, building on good work and process that exist in both Children’s and Adult’s divisions.

  • To lead the change process. To add strategic capacity to the newly formed People’s leadership team. To lead the business as usual quality assurance and learning cycle.

Main Accountabilities of the role:

  • To drive improvement for children through robust quality assurance which is joined up across Children’s Services and leading for the Council on quality assurance systems to avoid duplication and maximize opportunity.
  • To support the creation of Wokingham’s learning environment and be responsible for the yearly production of the training map and quarterly analysis of its effectiveness and reach as well as a system of learning opportunities
  • To deliver improvement work using analysis of service user, feedback, assimilating parents and children’s feedback from care reviews and other exercises 
  • To lead strong business management and development of Local Safeguarding Children’s Board through the Board management accountabilities and ensuring Local Authority visibility and representation in system leadership.
  • To lead improvement work using self-assessment, using triangulated information from audit; Management Information, user feedback, quarterly reports, consultation exercises, complaints and audits, taking account of inspection frameworks.
  • To demonstrate transparent accountability, producing a formal, written annual review to Heads of Service, Director of Children’s Service, Lead Members, Chief Executive and Overview and Scrutiny Committee on the effectiveness of the Council’s Quality Assurance work.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the post.
  • Represent the service, department or the council positively to other agencies, departments and services as required and comply with Council policies

  • To work within a team of other managers with the Head of Service to contribute to setting objectives for services. This will include planning, target setting and establishing standards which reflect agreed good practice, learning, Council equal opportunities policy and legislative requirements and include user-involvement at all stages
  • To keep abreast of developing professional practice and ensure all staff receive training in accordance with training plan and minimum requirements for their professional registration.
  • To champion and quality assure the frequency and quality of professional supervision of staff, trainees and students.
  • To fully participate in the Children’s Services Management Team and multi-agency meetings to be responsible, along with other members of the management team, for a coordinated approach to service development and delivery.
  • To horizon scan; and brief the senior leadership team on policy and regulatory changes; identify resultant gaps and address them, ensuring all staff are briefed on change.
  • To ensure impact of audits is translated into practice through an effective Quality Improvement Plan.
  • To be a full and active member of the Extended Children’s Services Leadership Team, to work cooperatively to improve outcomes for Wokingham’s young people, and take on specific programmes as required.
